PDF score for SATB choir

"Give me your tired..." This quote echoed in the mind of the composer as she reflected on the national and international issues facing the United States of America in 2015 and 2016. Upon researching these words, she found Emma Lazarus, the daughter of immigrants and supporter of refugees who wrote the poem "The New Colossus" as part of a 1883 fundraising campaign for the pedestal of the Statue of Liberty. In the choral setting Lady Liberty's Request, Lazarus' words reverberate through cascading modal melodies and chromatic chordal fanfares. March and folksong, fervor and gentleness alternate in vigorous rhythmic variety as Lazarus' sonnet depicts the power and compassion evoked by the statue in her time. The message of strength being used to help the poor inspires the composer in her time.

Download permits copies for performance and includes access to personal communication with the composer.
